Let the games begin...

We went to see Anton today at 3:00. Zema took us in a taxi as Janetta was not available. I think every time we go, we take a different route, but it’s a good way to see the city.

We went to the music room and waited a while for Zema to return with Anton. When he did show up, he had just finished eating. No smiles at first but when I held out my hands he did shuffle over to me and Lynda and let us hug him.

The first order of business was to see what was in the lunch box today… two different trucks. He sat down and played very quietly for a while. We then took out some crayons and he drew on some blank paper. Circles and lines are his specialty. He seemed to be very interested in turning the pages. Lynda then brought a coloring book over and he proceeded to decorate the front and back cover. Every once in a while he would say something to himself, but not much.

We then had our photo shoot and decided to let Anton use the camera, with a little help from mama. When we looked back over the pictures on the camera and he would see himself, he would smile and say ANTON!!!. He has a deep voice for a little guy.

Next up was a little soccer match. Sometimes he would play without holding the lunch box and some times he would hold the lunch box. It’s odd, anything that we give him, he likes to keep close to him. If you moved a coloring book away from him, he would slide it back next to him. Anyway, we had a lot of fun. Just how much fun you ask? See the video below (we were intending to post a video clip but we're having technical difficulties so a photo will have to do for now)

The day ended with a game of put all the crayons and the 2 trucks in the lunch box, close it and shake it good and hard.

When Zema said it was time to go we each picked him up and gave him a hug and a kiss. This time though he did not want to get down and would hold on to each of us. Old hat for all you veteran parents out there, but pretty cool for us.

  2. Lynda and Wayne...
Its Deb. I have my parents here tonight for dinner and we are combing through all of your pictures and postings for every crumb of info. We are all so excited. Mom and Dad said they are so happy for you and glad you are enjoying your time with Anton. He is the cutest little boy (with tears in their eyes). He matches well to you two. Chris and Erik have each had a peek and smile when they see him. Chris is ready to teach him to skateboard. David says 'Hi' too. Thanks for your postings and pictures. We continue to pray for you guys. Yesterday was a picture perfect day here with sunshine and warm temps. Chris and I spent the day at church serving the 'Rainforest Dinner' to raise money for an orphanage in Ghana. It was quite a day. We are happy that Anton is warming up to you guys and beginning to see the loving couple you are (that we know and love). Have fun and we will keep watch. Love, Debbie, David, Chris, Erik and Mom and Dad Johannsen.

  3. Lynda and Wayne,

This is the first time I have logged in to see how things were going since you left. He is adorable! I have to tell you that I am glad I am alone in the office, you've both got me all teared up. I hope the rest of your trip goes very well and I look forward to reading more! Take care.

    Sara
