I guess this is how a kaz cutie spells his name

Sometimes he gets the "S" in the right direction. Usually his S is more curvy even when it is backwards. When I saw this it looked like a Z. So I guess Lukas is really Lukaz for Kaz!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all our blog followers! We woke up to an Easter basket scavenger hunt, Resurrection Rolls and then dinner with family later in the day.

Saturday morning Lukas decided he wanted pancakes for breakfast. So we got out the spring pancake molds Aunt Charlotte gave us and made bunny, chick and duck pancakes. Lukas decided we needed to make an extra bunny pancake for the Easter Bunny. Unfortunately, Lukas ended his evening on a not so good note, so mommy set out the cookie and pancake for EB.

Saturday afternoon Lukas had asked if we could get a "ridgerator" for our garage like our neighbors have. This was the conversation.

Lukas: can we get a ridgerator for our garage
Me: what are you going to do with a refridgerator?
Lukas: put it in the garage
Me: but what are you going to put in it?
Lukas: my stuff
Me: what stuff?
Lukas: my drinks and food

We told him we would think about it and see what we could find. So what is the first thing he asks me when he woke up Easter morning after asking a million times the night before if the Easter Bunny was coming...."did you get me a ridgerator for the garage?" "No, but the easter bunny seems to have left something for you"

The Easter bunny evidently decided Lukas was old enough to have to hunt harder for his Easter basket. Lukas wasn't to sure about this plan at the beginning. The EB left 10 eggs hidden around the house. Each one contained a clue and a tiny candy egg.

Let the hunt begin..."What the heck, where is my basket silly rabbit?"

The search is on...he was starting to get into it by this point

It was a bit chilly so we had to pause for a wardrobe change...we're getting closer

"What the heck is this?...a mini kite"

"Wow...Look at this?"

While we were hunting for his Easter basket we were baking our Resurrection Rolls. They are a tool for teaching children about Christ's Resurrection. We had prepared them the day before. I got the idea from the radio station I listen to in the car. You start by taking a large white marshmallow and dipping it in melted butter. The marshmallow represents Christ and the butter is the oil used to annoint his body for burial. Then you roll it in cinnammon sugar representing the spices. It is then wrapped in a cresent roll dough which symbolizes the lines. The oven is the tomb. The marshmallow dissolves away leaving empty lines as in the bible story. When I pulled them out of the "tomb" I asked Lukas where Jesus' body went because it wasn't in the roll any more. His respones: "Maybe he went out the front door." Doh! Maybe next year!

We spent a lovely afternoon with the Robey side of the family. Lukas had fun hunting more easter eggs in grandma's garden room and decorating eggs with Aunt Cheryl. He thought it was great fun to re-hide the eggs and have Aunt Cheryl look for them. I think the highlight for Lukas was that he was going to get to spend the night with grandma and granddaddy. He kept asking, "Are you leaving or not?!" Translation, you can go home now so I can have some fun. He was kind enough to open the front door for us on our way out.

The next USA boxing champ or member of the mob?

Lukas has a small boxing bag and gloves that we use to give him an outlet when he gets angry. He decided to bring it upstairs the other day. I was in the kitcchen and heard him talking and this is what I found...

Seem to have some technical difficulties here. I'll try to re-load this. He was punching the bag and saying," You want it like this, or like this?"

Getting ready for Easter and the Easter Bunny

Lukas' school was closed today so I played hookie and stayed home with him. Since it has been two years in a row I am deeming it a new tradition in our household to dye Easter eggs on Good Friday. We added baking cookies to the festivities this year.

First we dye the eggs....

Then we bake the cookies...(we cheated and used pre-cut and decorated)

Then we use the leftover dough to make a special cookie for the Easter Bunny...

Then we place it in the oven...

The finished product

And what kind of cookies do we have Lukas?

It's going to be a long season....

The first game of the season was quite entertaining. For those of you who aren't familiar with Tball rules, they don't keep score and everyone gets to bat each inning. The team in the outfield rotate positions with each batter. They play for about an hour. Here is a replay in photos.

The bookends of the team Lukas "aka Luka" (#1) and Lucas (#10)

Batter up, Lukas is the lead off batter

Looks like a pro waiting to run to second...looks can be deceiving though

Look at me mom!

Waiting on 3rd base

Time to play in the field.

Lukas playing 3rd base. Love the look.

In the outfield

The uniforms are a little on the big side. The pants are about the only thing that really fit. The socks come half way up his thigh; they look more like adult tube socks. When the game started Lukas had his pants all the way down over his socks. As the game proceded you will see that he was checking out his various options for how to wear his uniform.

Playing first...socks up, pants all the way down.

Nope, let's try socks up, pants up tucked in socks...

Nope, let's try socks down, pants up....Henry says,"No,no,no,that's not how you wear your uniform."

Nope, that's not right either, let's go back to pants down. Time out while we wait for Lukas to rearrange his uniform yet again!

YES, I THINK IT IS GOING TO BE A LOOOOONG SEASON

Lara's birthday party at Elioak Farms

Crisis averted! T-ball got rained out so Lukas was able to go to his classmates birthday party. I new he would have fun because it was at Elioak Farms. We had gone to pick pumpkins there the first year Lukas was home. I was surprised to find that he didn't remember it. He was almost 4 the first time we went so I assumed he would remember it. It was a little chilly for an outside party but the kids managed to have fun anyway.

Conductor Robey giving a friend a ride on the train

While visiting the animals on the farm we discovered that there was a baby lamb

The biggest hit of the day was the cow train. While in Taraz Lukas saw the Goose train that would go through town during festivals. Everytime his sees pictures of it he says he wants to ride it. From the look on his face I think this served as a good substitute.

While the kids were riding I was chatting with Sophia K's mom. I was telling her about the time Lukas said he wanted a motorcycle and Sophia K was going to ride it with him. She then relayed to me that one night Sophia told her parents that she was going to marry Lukas. She is the Sophia that is from Siberia. The "future Mrs. Robey" is the one in the car behind Lukas.

Working in the flower bed

One Sleepy Boy!

Lukas was watching TV while I was reading last night. He had been coloring the last time I checked on him. When it was time to go up to bed I looked over and couldn't believe he had fallen asleep in this position. I don't know how he kept his arms up like that.
