New Year's with Grandma and Grandpa Tractor

We headed down to the family farm for New Year's weekend. Lucky for us pretty much the whole family was there at some point during the weekend. So Lukas got to spend time with pretty much all his uncles, aunts and cousins.

Boxing day is always spent with the Robey side of the family and is the day we exchange gifts.

Lukas got right to trying out his new skate board when we got home in the afternoon. He did pretty good for a first go at it. So we headed inside while he skated. Next thing I know he comes in crying. Mom: "Did you fall and hurt yourself?" Lukas: "Yes, I need one of these (pointing to his knee pad) for here (pointing to his bum)." Mom: "I believe that is called a pillow, they don't make pads for there."

Christmas afternoon with the Mason Clan

Christmas wouldn't be complete without our annual visit with the Mason Clan. This year it was on Christmas afternoon. Lukas was very excited to show Skylar his new guitar and play music with him again just like over summer vacation.

7:30am on Christmas Morning and Lukas is still sleeping

Yet again, we had to wake Lukas up for Christmas morning. The first words out of his mouth were, "I forgot to put out the cookies and milk for Santa!" He had placed some cookies and milk in the fridge on his own earlier in the day. He fell asleep on the way home last night and was only half awake when we put out the milk and cookies. Christmas was full of items with wheels and music. I'll let the pictures and videos do the rest of the talking on this one.

The guitar went everywhere we went. This was at Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Butch's house. Leave it to Lukas to find a stage!

Santa's been here!

Santa and his elves have been busy once again this year. It appears santa enjoyed his cookies and milk and was quite generous with the gifts. I guess Anton the Elf gave Lukas a good report during his visit to our house. Looks like even Alvin had some fun last night checking out Lukas' new skateboard!

Adventure Park Holiday Light Show and Arcade

Today was a half day at school today since winter break begins next week. Lukas took the day off because he had his 6 year old check-up this morning. Didn't seem much sense in sending him t school for an hour or so. They had already had their party earlier in the week. As a special treat to start off the official school break we took him to Adventure Park to see the holiday lights.

After driving through the lights we headed to the arcade for some fun. My boy loves him some arcades. He was very good about leaving when we told him it was time to go.

Christmas baking and tunnel making

Let the festivities begin...Lukas and I did our annual cookie baking.

However, Lukas was more interested in pretending he was a tunnel for the train. He was also very interested in that box in the corner. We'll see if he can stay out of it until Christmas :)

Annual Making of the Gingerbread Creations

Every year since Lukas has been a part of our family he and I have done gingerbread together. the first year it was little gingerbread bear cookies. The next year it was little houses. I got quite ambitious this year and we did a house and train. Wayne Documented it because Lukas needed to do a presentation on a holiday tradition for school.

First mom assembles the house and puts on the icing so Lukas can add decorations.



Lukas was multitasking; he can decorate and watch sponge bob at the same time!


Those. baby skittles are slippery and bounce well on the floor. Needless to say several of them ended up on the floor.



Lukas decided he needed a better perch to do his decorating.



And after a lot of yelling and screaming from mommie because the train wouldn't stay up we finally finished. Lukas kept reporting to Anton the elf about mommie's bad behavior. It's no wonder Lukas acts the way he does sometimes when he gets frustrated. he has a great teacher....me! Guess I better try and keep myself under better control since I don't like seeing it re-enacted by my son. Had a nice chat about why mommie shouldn't act that way and neither should he. It was also suggested by someone that maybe we should skip the gingerbread in the future. Nah, I'll just try to not take it so seriously next year and skip the train. Maybe I should get a kit where the structure is already together;)





The train engine stayed together long enough to get some photos but eventually ended up in the trash. You can't have a Christmas train without an engine! I guess we could have eaten it instead. I wasn't thinking clearly in the heat of the moment /:0
