Gotcha!

We actually have two big blue jays that frequent our feeders. They have been playing cat and mouse with me. It seems everytime they come to feed they set there nicely. Then as soon as I get the camera out and turn it on they take off before I can get the shot. They sit up in the trees beyond our yard and taunt me. I finally managed to snap some photos today.

So where do you put the snow when you already cleared 2 1/2 feet away earlier in the week? You add it to the existing piles and make more. Here are three photos of the front of our house over the last week.

Yeah, the plows finally showed up

Lukas and I stayed up to watch the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. As I was headed to bed at 12:30am I couldn't believe my ears...the snow plows had finally arrived. Actually it was a front end loader that pilled the snow even higher on Mt. Robey! I thought for sure they were going to take out the mail box or trees in the front yard.

The elusive cardinal

We have a cardinal and blue jay that frequent our feeders. I have been trying to capture them on film for several days now. I finally suceeded with the cardinal.

The aftermath and dig out

When we awoke Thursday morning it looked like someone had laid a white sheet over the existing snow. A beautiful scene but daunting clean-up task that awaited.


If you look closely you can see where our neighbor managed to get out in his big suburban. Not much else is getting out this morning! The back view from the basement door The back view from the deck.
